IIC Responds to Anti Prophet Muhammad Media

(WASHINGTON DC – September 20, 2012) The Islamic Information Center reaffirms its condemenation of all media material that insults or denigrates Islam and Prophet Muhammad, and all other media types designed to falsely insult or denigrate any other group of people, and is firmly against any efforts to create enmity between Muslims and non-Muslims.

However, IIC believes this is the an excellent opportunity to strike a blow at the perpetrators of hate speech – by engaging in intellectual dialogue. Nearly every media outlet around the world is talking about how materials have been made to insult Prophet Muhammad – but almost none of them are talkign about the actual personality of Prophet Muhammad. This creates a gap in the news, and it is the responsibility of Muslims to fill that gap with the truth in a way that is attractive to a plethora of audiences.

To that effect, IIC calls upon community members to download and distribute the Prophet Muhammad Information Packet, developed by IIC, and use it as a starting point to talk to non-Muslims about the true personality and life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (May God Bless Him).

IIC Condemns Violence Against Shi’ites In Pakistan

The Islamic Information Center strongly condemns the atrocities being committed by Taliban and related Takfiri forces in Pakistan against Shia Muslims. According to news, nearly three dozen Shi’ite civilians are killed in daily attacks from the Taliban fighters. Such atrocities are a violation of human rights, and IIC believes that the Pakistani government should take immediate action to prevent further bloodshed.

Furthermore, IIC calls upon the international community to also condemn the attacks that have destroyed countless families, and threaten to destabilize peace efforts throughout the region.

In recent days, there have been bombings, gun attacks, abductions, and beheadings of civilians in the Parachinar, Kurram Agency, Dera Ismail Khan, and Hangu areas of Pakistan. All the victims are of the Shi’ite branch of Islam, and displayed evidence of torture. Fighters are believed to have crossed the border from Afghanistan, or be Takfiri fighters from Pakistan. Despite the fact that local and international media organizations have brought worldwide attention to these attacks, the Pakistani government has not taken any action to halt the violence or restore peace.

Muslims Condemn Attack at Fort Hood

The Islamic Information Center, in conjunction with all the major Muslim organizations nationwide, strongly condemns the attack on U.S. Military Base Fort Hood in Texas that took place today. American Muslims stand with their fellow citizens in offering prayers for the victims, and sincere condolences to the families of those killed or injured. While several news reports have cited one of the gunmen to be Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, IIC strongly emphasizes that this attack and its perpetrator are in no way  representative of the Muslim people or the peace-loving religion of Islam.

Eleven people plus a gunman were dead and 31 wounded after the gunman opened fire Thursday on a soldier-processing center at Fort Hood, Texas, officials said. The gunman was a soldier, and two other soldiers have been detained as suspects, Army Lt. Gen. Bob Cone said. For more information about the attack, please read the Google News collection of stories on the topic.

Islam, as taught by the Holy Prophet and his family, strongly advocates peaceful dialogue and discussion. The Prophet Muhammad (May God Bless Him) condemned all forms of terrorism against all people. The individuals who perpetrated this attack blatantly acted against the teachings of Islam and humanity.

The Islamic Information Center, under the guidance of Imam Syed Naqvi, works to bring understanding among people of all faiths and background in an attempt to build bridges for the future to prevent hate crimes through education and tolerance. IIC also works to correct any misinformation about matters relating to the Holy Religion of Islam.
